My first triangle

Did my first triangle! BR 1 - Rosemary's Window. I think this is one of the easier ones. I have started two others, too, but they are monsters to get straight!

Beyond silver

Arghhh.... I do not know what is ailing the blog at the moment. It won't let me download pictures! Annoying!! I started this blogpost five days ago, and I still can not download the last two pictures. What is the point of a blog if you can't add pictures? And I have more to share. Sigh. Well, now you know why I haven't been updating. If it keeps on like this, I will have to see if I can move the blog. Bother!

A 5 - Cathi's Campfire. I wish I knew the naming process of these blocks....

K 10 - Quandry. I had some problems with this one... had to redo half of it. Looks good finished, though:)

I have reached my 25th Baby Jane block!

J 4 - Adelaine's Apron Strings.

Here are all the first 25th in order of completion. I hung them on my design wall, which is not quite straight. The blocks are straight, though! And there is actually a colour plan in all this. Time will show:)

A 4 - Courtney's Stethoscope. Not quite straight in the middle, but what the heck. It is almost impossible with these small blocks. It is better to finish than perfect. The mantra still holds:)

New day, new baby steps... if I can get them downloaded to the blog. (it only took half the night!)

Babysteps to happiness

When I feel low, as I tend to do on occasion, and particularly at the moment, a good friend of mine tells me: babysteps to happiness. As I tend to be thinking I seven-mile boot steps to happiness and then immediately get depressed when I only get a few inches, it helps thinking baby steps. Thanks, friend:)

So two days ago I got back to my Baby Jane. It's been lying there, laughing at me, for two months. I got through the first four almost flawlessly, jippi!, totally blew the fifth, argh!, but got another three made again today - rock on! I am taking my babysteps to happiness:) Here are the first ones. It takes me forever! to download them these days. The system kicks me out after a few pictures. sigh....

A8 - Florence Nightingale. One of the simpler one, thank goodness!


L3 - Reflections abound. After I finished it, I saw the flower I had managed to connect in the lower right corner:)

H13 - Farm Fields. The true colour is a more pink one.

Fun houses

I love looking at old houses:) Returning back from Sweden I saw these two houses.

There are several of these ones around the area I visited.

I think they are  what we in Norway call dirt cellars, originally used as old 'refrigerators'. Since the building is buried in the ground it keeps the interior cool. Perfect for storage.

I am also fascinated by this one.

No idea what it was originally used for, but it looks like a perfect miniature of a grand building, like a official building in a big city:)

Zhe mooon, zhe moon!

We were a little late walking the dogs today, it was getting dark as we went down to the lake.

Getting down to the lake, we saw....

...zhe moon, zhe moon! I can feel my teeffh lengthening. Good thing they brought me in and served me dinner:)

The Nordic light

I am visiting family in Sweden, just by one of the largest lakes, Vänern. It is grey and rainy, but the light is just magnificent!

There are times I wish I could  paint:)  I try to teach myself to see beauty in the cloudy, rainy days, too. Instead of being  overwhelmed by the lack of bright colour, to try and see the colours in the grey. Sometimes it works:)

This is our walk down to the lake.  Through a heavy forest, dark and grey, down to the beautiful light. Worth the walk.

Straightening things out

I found a knitted jacket that I had never worn and decided to rip it up and knit something else out it. The yarn looks like badly permed hair. I thought I would take a chance and machine wash it instead of hand wash it. My frontloaded machine has a 'wool cradle'. And look! It came out just perfectly! Just like new yarn. Now if just my life could be ironed out as easily. I am hoping that my troubles are not coming in threes. I have enough with the two big ones at the moment!

Oh, and I finished the sweater! I am not doing the flowers on the cuff, though.

Icecold and sunny

We had our first snow a week or so ago. It has already gone downtown Oslo, but here up in the higher areas outside the city, there is still some snow and ice on the ground. Even though we have had beautiful clear blue skies a lot of the time since then.

I went by one of the golf courses on Sunday, took a stroll through the course and found this beautiful water feature dressed in ice and snow. It was beautiful. Cold, but beautiful.

Christmas update

I have actually done quite a lot of quilting in this first week of my unemployment - ugh - a word I am not particularly fond of.... Anyway, I can't show much of it! Most of the recipients of my gifts are too aware of my blog, I am afraid, so there will be no peeking!

But I am doing my own Christmas wall hanging: Twas the Night before Christmas from Crab Apple Studioes. I finished the middle part today. Soon I can start the stitcheries. My colour of choice is darker then the original, but I think it will work out.
