Kind of 'blah'?

I finally got around to block Bridgewater the other weekend, and have been struggling to take pictures of it since then! The colour is so ... blah that it doesn't stand out on anything these days, since we are still in late winter, early spring. But, here it is.... See if you can spot it:)
I tried to get some blue sky and a red barn in the picture, just to get some! colour...

However, colourchoices aside, I am proud of the result. I am still in awe that I can actually understand an english pattern! It is not always easy to read and understand pattern in my own language, so it feels an accomplishment to do it in another:)

The darker side

I find myself being drawn to skulls and black leather:) I have no idea why, but is has been like that for a while. I keep saying I am a goth in hiding:)

I went by a big craft store this weekend, and saw this make-it-yourself kits. One of them was a leather macrame with skulls. It made me smile, and I decided a smile these days justified getting it and making it. So I did.
And it still makes me smile:)

I wonder if that makes me slightly.... weird? And does it really matter?

Actually quite boring...

Just finished my shawl... it looks quite boring, doesn't it? Not just the colour, but the whole thing. I guess blocking is necessary:) Which needs to be done... maybe next weekend.Working on a anniversary gift for two of my favourite family members. They both turn 70 this year, and will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, too! All in one year. Must make a quilt for that:)
Cats not included... They will be returning home to their mom this week.
Trying to use up some of the left-overs from the Hideaway quilt, the cut-offs. Its as far as it have gotten at the moment. Head is not in it at the moment, but will fortunately return:)

A cat in a box

Cats and boxes. There is a connection there. What it is, I do not know. The desire to be closed in?
Hehe. I do not know. I just know there is something slightly creepy about cats in boxes. They just sit there! They sit, and they stare. As if they are waiting for something to happen. Maybe they think it is a TARDIS?!

Winter evenings

Some winter evenings give a wonderful light outside - when the sun is still up. I just love the blue sky and the yellow building, caught on my way home from work one afternoon.
If you are a cat, like the two I am catsitting at the moment, you spend the winter evenings lazing about....

Like the princess on the pea.... many, many pillows...

.. or hogging my ironing board! I have had to put a sheet over it, as it is a pain to remove the cat hair every time I need to iron.

Not that this one cares about the extra work he causes me!

Night is coming, and it is soon time for another nap.

One block, seriously!

I just finished the flimsy from my Hideaway fabric - the stack I got for my birthday from a very good friend:) It amazes me how one block can look so different, just by using different fabrics!

It's just a star block - but made with 30 different fabrics.
None of the photos does justice to the colours. During winter you can't get good light, morning or night. Now I just need to find fabric for a border, and some backing.

Basting takes time!!!

Not sure why I thought I could baste Dear Jane in one day.... I am on the second day, and still not done! I forgot all the preparations that needs to be done. Like ironing all the parts.

Did I read somewhere that you are supposed to remove all threadends on the back? Where on earth do you start....?

Then the backing needs to be fastened to the floor, real thight. (It is a lovely blue batik with patterns that looks like old Viking patterns. Seemed to fit:))

Then a very nice wool batting. It is soooo soft!

Then I realised that I had not stitches the end block! So that took the rest of the evening.
This morning I spread the quilt top over and started basting. I am about 1/4 done, and my back is already protesting. Necessary breakes takes time... However, I need to get it done tomorrow, as this big quilt takes up half my living room floor, and the furnitures that are supposed to be here are stuck on the other half. It is quite a feat to get out of the room now. Good to have tangible goals, right? :)
