Hedda's garden

This is kind of a mystery quilt showing:) These are some of the elements of Hedda's Garden. It is kind of exciting, as I am not really sure how all this will look when I put them together. I have to make all the different parts before I can see how the actual block will look like. Still need a little more blue in here somewhere, I think.... It is going to be a cheerful quilt, though:)

It is growing!

Look at my wisteria seed:) It is growing! I can't believe it. I have been wanting a wisteria since I visited Japan a few years back. They call it blue rain, and you see it everywhere. They are used to cover the wind walls on some of the high ways. I was there in the fall so I only saw the leaves, but I can imagine how it would look in the spring. And in one of the temple they measured the old blue rain ever year to see how long the flowers could be. I think the record was two meters!

So we shall see if I can get it to survive a hot sommer on a balcony and a cold winter.... never know unless you try.
I am, otherwise, sick of writing applications and resumès (it is true, it is a full time job to get a new job), so now I am going to enjoy the spring, with snow, and see if I can find somewhere to walk where I am not knee deep in snow. There might be pictures:)

Sneeky peek

Here's a sneakpeak on my newest quilt. Not for me, but for my lovely god daughter who is going to be confirmed in May. This is a small part of it.And the rest will consist some of these, and maybe something else....:) Don't you just love the spring feeling of the fabric? It will be fun to see how these separate blocks of fabric turns into a whole. Keep tuning in:)

A lot of space

Funny how such small animals, even a full grown male cat, can take up so much space! I want to work on my quilts, but my houseguest is hogging my work table! (He is a very safety conscious cat, and keeps away from all sharp objects).

And when I try to sit down to knit, wouldn't you know he has taken that space, too! They are uncanny.... Oh well, I should spend the time writing job applications, anyway. Maybe that is what he is sensing. My own personal bad conscience:)

Company!

I am cat sitting at the moment. A friend is off on a two week long trip and I voluntaired to take care of the little 'baby'. He is a full grown witches' cat:) Black with yellow eyes. Amazing how sinister they can look. As every cat he is haughty, proud and the boss of the house. I am just the can opener, but he deigns to keep me company while I sit and write my endless applications (though he is more interested in what is going on outside).
He is also hogging my quilts.... hard to work with a huge cat spread all over the fabric. What is it about cats and quilts?! He is also very interested in my knitting, but I think that is just the movement of the thread.... Hard to knit when claws are suddenly attached to my thighs.... ouch! But it is nice to have company, as we are still getting more snow and I do NOT want to venture out too much. Now I can be snug inside my warm apartment, with company, too!:) Now, if he could just cook dinner....

Too much of everything

I have spent the day finishing the top of the Pride-quilt for my nephew. I should have spent the time sending out applications for a job.... oh well. Not quite a wasted time, I hope
Finishing it, I do see that it is a mishmash of blocks. The only thing that 'keeps it together' is the colours. Can there be too much of everything? Ach, well, I think it looks kind of interesting. And I am happy about the way the Chevy logo (right low corner) falls into the whole mess of it.

When not sewing and send out applications, (guilt, guilt, guilt) I also knit. Three guesses what this will be:) It is a commision from a dear friend, her decisions. She better wear it! Will keep you updated. In the meantime, spring is coming closer. Water is dripping from the roofs, the days are longer and the birds are singing their hearts out! The snow, however, stays.... The amount that has been pouring down on us these last few weeks will take weeks to melt. Maybe we will be able to celebrate May 17th (our constitutional day) with no snow?
My car is not a very big car, but this is how one of the public parking places looked this morning. You know how long it is going to take for it to melt?!?!? Sigh....
